In the cage on the above picture, you can see a budgerigar which has as nickname budgie; this bird is a small parrot belonging to the group of broad-tailed parrots. The budgerigar is usually around 18 centimeter long and weighs around 30 grams. The wild budgerigars are usually green in colour as the one on the picture. The budgerigars are seen in open habitats and are nomadic birds. A lot of these small parrots are found in some part of Australia. Since the 1850s, the budgerigars are birds that have been bred in captivity. Budgerigars are also found as pets probably for their nice colours.
