The government house is located in Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius Island. Its name was given by the Governor De Nyon, it is mainly said the city has been named in honour of the King Louis XV and others say that it is in memory of the Port Louis Brittany. The government house is one of the oldest buildings of the capital city. The first and ground floor was built by the first French governor of Mauritius, Mahe de Labournnnais in 1740. It was also his first residence and the second floor of the building was built by Dacaen the last French governor. Other attractions of the capital city are the Champs de Mars the oldest racing area of the Indian Ocean, The Fort Adelaide, the Mauritius Institute, Caudan Waterfront, windmill museum, the market.
